I got my copy of the double cd vast - turquoise & Crimson in the mail today! you guys should really get it or check it out if you like jon crosby's/vast's work. It's mainly remastered demos and unreleased work that was on nude and not featured on it. Mine was signed. There is also a turquoise & Crimson novel out also. I'm not sure what all is in it though. www.realvast.com

Foreward from the cd...
This is a time capsule. For me its like a package I bury in the sand in hopes that a thousand years from now someone or something will uncover it and have a glimpse into what my thoughts and feelings were. If I live to an old age I hope to unbury this cd and remember the time I released Turquoise and Crimson Online. it was the summer of 2003. I was living in New Mexico hiding from the status-quo entertainment police of Los Angeles and NY. I wanted to release new material and saw new possiblities in the internet that were not being tapped into. My manager and I decided to release two ten song sets of MP3s for $2.99. One named "Turquoise" which was released in June and the other entitled "Crimsom" in August. It was partly to get closer to an audience in a way not possible before but for me it was also a way to enhance my craft. Since day one I have never viewed myself as just a musician. I want to break the rules and explore new grounds. I feel that I never did here. I know Vast is the first band to release an album in online this way because at the time and even still as I write this there is only one company that allows for the online distribution of songs for less than $1. The relevance of pricing is the political statement it makes. For the last fifty years the lion's share of a musicians profit has gone to a large corporation thus giving the corporation all the power and control. On the other hand, we have entered into a new era where all media is being distributed freely online with no real way of even knowing where it's going. The powers that be have no interest in finding a solution to this that might cut them out in some way shape or form. This is why the label I was on (Elektra) has since folded. The musicians I spoke to about this felt the same way I did but for some reason or another were too afraid to release music online themselves. Beaten only by a Madonna single, Vast's "Turquoise and Crimson" stayed at number 2 and 3 on the online chart for over a year outselling at least 15 other artists that had records in the top ten on Billboard. That tells me that there is a light at the end of this dark corporate tunnel and maybe one day we will all reach it together. I think that there is a young musician out there reading this who will take it much further than I ever dreamed. Perhaps history will not remember Vast for being the first band to release music online this way but I will remember. I like to think you will remember friend. Without you it couldn't have been possible. Thank You very much.
