news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/4508158.stmAs some of you may or may not know, the MPA (Music Publisher's Association, who publish tablature books) is intending to criminilize the publishing of music tablature online, under the grounds that it deprives artists of their income. I, for one, am stongly against this decision, as I believe online tablature is incredibly useful - especially for underground bands such as PMM, for whom it's hard to enough to find their CD's, let alone the tablature to their songs. I hope I can count on the support of everyone here to make people aware of this, and advise everyone to check out the discussion on the PowerTab forums (http://forum.powertabs.net/viewtopic.php?t=17081&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0) about what we can do about this. Additionally, I would like to ask PMM if they give permission for the MIDI tablature file of "Painkiller Introduction"; the only PMM tab posted on this site, to be used. Thanks in advance, ATL.

Well, this is just more crap for companies to sue for and get money off of.
In my honest opinion, I don't think PMM has a problem having their tabs/lyrics posted on websites. If they ever do, I would have no problem taking them down off of my website. Also considering that no tablature books have been published having tabs to PMM songs.

that's just stupid. everyone wants to make a buck now a days for just anything, even things that dont fully belong to them or made by. The internet was founded for file sharing and sharing of information. Band's should have full control of what their listeners have access to and what not to give them. Why must people abuse and change it, slap a label on it and charge you for something someone is sharing with you. Now i understand band's should get paid for their work. But the net has helped me find so many bands that i really enjoy now, had I not have had the net would have probably even never had the chance to check them out. I've went out and bought their albums. Mostly through the band's site due to the music stores not likely carrying something that's never or had little radio air play. Now take in mind there are lots of bands I still havent gotten albums from but I hope to get to them. Or pass on the word so others get it. All band's should run their own labels and do not become a slave to these Corporations.
The internet is a useful tool in promotion for the bands too. Don't mess this up.
AThousandLies there are some tabs on this forum i posted some from scources of other sites.

I'm sure most bands wouldn't have a problem with this, including PMM, but the asshole fronting this potential criminilization believes that it's within his fascist laws only when the artists themselves have given permission. Thus, if they miraculously "win" here, and sites are forced to take down their tablature, it'd still be possible for PMM tabs to continue circulation. Of course, it's not like the MPA is going to publisher a tab book for an underground band like PMM, but these idiots don't seem to give a damn.
