When I first got the cd I wanted it only for the 5 acoustic songs...thats it. I've never been a big fan of cover tunes so I wasnt expecting much. I was blown away by the 5 acoustic songs immediately. I listened to the 5 cover songs as well and thought, heh theyre good, but nothing special. So after listening to the 5 acoustic songs for a month or so and completely ignored the covers.
What a mistake that was. It finally hit me about 3 weeks ago that, "hey this is PMM we're talking about here, everything they touch is golden" So I decided to give De Proundis as a whole another chance, and im glad I did. The cover songs are a breath of fresh air and sound great.
I respect PMM a lot for taking a chance and doing something different by releasing an acoustic/cover cd instead of just delving right into a new full length. I kinda wish there were some acoustic versions of songs from their self titled cd, but Im guessing that has something to do with Geffen's involvement with that one?
Either way I love the cd and juding by the video clips the new material is gonna be typical PMM (awesome).
